Property insurance Leans agree· stated position

Statement: "The state should intervene more directly in the property-insurance market (rate caps, expanding Citizens, stricter insurer regulation) rather than relying mainly on market-based reforms."

He supports a state catastrophic fund to protect homeowners, stronger consumer protections and fair-dealing requirements for insurers, alongside more competition and home hardening.

"focus on a state catastrophic fund that will protect homeowners and not insurance companies."

Housing affordability Leans agree· stated position

Statement: "Government should do more to make housing affordable (subsidies, zoning changes, rent measures)."

He backs full use of state housing programs, public-private partnerships and streamlined permitting to expand affordable and workforce housing.

Abortion Strongly agrees· stated position

Statement: "Abortion should be legal in most cases (Florida's six-week ban should be repealed or loosened)."

He says reproductive decisions belong out of politicians' hands and supports abortion access, with prevention as a focus.

"I strongly believe that woman's reproductive rights belong out of the hands of politicians."

Health care Leans agree· stated position

Statement: "Government should expand its role in health coverage (expand Medicaid in Florida, extend Affordable Care Act subsidies)."

Friend says health-care access is his central issue and wants to take on health insurers, invest in preventive care and community health centers and expand the provider workforce.

"Florida needs a pragmatic fighter like me to take on the health insurance carriers."

Growth & development Leans agree· stated position

Statement: "Growth and development should be slowed or more tightly regulated (higher impact fees, density limits, stronger local control)."

He says the balance has shifted too far toward state preemption and local governments should keep the ability to respond to local needs.

Elections & voting Leans agree· stated position

Statement: "Voting should be made easier (mail voting, drop boxes, restoring voting rights) rather than adding new restrictions."

He would waive fees and expand assistance so a proof-of-citizenship rule does not block eligible voters.
